Tools
Before you get started, I recommend going over the FAQ.
Allright, let's get into the meat of this project. Here are the tools
that you'll need:
-To start with, some type of game pad depending on what system this is for.
(NOTE: I do not recommend using the pads that came included with your console. They usually have very small
soldering points, and are easy to screw up. Use a cheap 3rd party brand, instead. The cheaper the better in fact!)
For soldering onto the game pad:
-Soldering Iron (You may find that a lower wattage, like 15, is easiest to use)
-Solder (15 AWG Rosin Core)
-Wire Stripper
-Small Gauge Wire, Stranded 20-22 AWG or smaller
-(Optional) Dremel or other rotary tool
-Spade Connectors (Only needed for keyboard hacks)
-Screw-Down Barrier Strips (Only needed for keyboard hacks)
For constuction of your housing/box:
-Wood (5/8" of 3/4" Medium Density Fiberboard works great)
-Sander
-Drill
-1&1/8" Boring Bit
-Screws
For finishing/decorating the box:
-Con-Tact Paper
-Paint, Primer
And for the actual arcade parts:
-.187" Quick Disconnects (Unshielded are best)
-Joystick(s) & Buttons
-Bolts or carriage bolts for securing the joysticks to the wood.
